The New Buffalo Center, just north of the Indiana-Michigan border has lots of brochures, maps and guidebooks about Michigan. The center is staffed by experts in all things Michigan.

White River is part of the Sable Point Lighthouse Keepers Association which also includes Big Sable Point, Little Sable Point and the Ludington Breakwater. All are worth a visit.

Program to commemorate Sport’s burial at sea 3 miles off Ludington on July 20, 1926. Book reading, Coast Guard Salute, Fundraiser for dog rescue, Newfoundland dog club.
The museum is located in a former U.S. Coast Guard Station, which is now listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Beautiful setting on Lake Michigan.

The museum’s special exhibit is: Icebound – The Ordeal of the S.S. Michigan, which in 1885 became icebound on Lake Michigan. Displays tell of the many dramatic episodes of the story.
